At W2A, we believe that the smartest solutions are reached through interaction and collaboration with our clients, forming a team of diverse individuals sharing their most creative ideas. The integration of different disciplines and the commitment to achieving a shared goal help us create designs that enrich the lives of the people who use them.
W2A’s history goes back to 1945 when our predecessor firm (Coston-Frankfurt-Short) was founded in Oklahoma. Our Pennsylvania office opened in 1960 as a branch office, and became an independent firm in 1966, as Coston-Wallace. The firm then transitioned to Coston-Wallace-Watson. In 1973, the firm name became Wallace & Watson Associates and in 1977, the firm became a professional corporation; In 2000, the firm started doing business as W2A Design Group and now serves the Lehigh Valley.
What We Do
W2A offers over five decades of experience in providing exceptional award-winning Architectural Design to a wide variety of clients for many types of projects. Our philosophy is not to specialize in specific project types or markets, but rather provide the best possible solutions for our varied corporate, governmental, educational, healthcare, library, religious, commercial and industrial clients. Our in-house staff provides architectural design; programming and master planning; feasibility studies; space planning; interior design including color selections, furniture selection, specification and procurement; and project management services for new construction, additions and complex renovations.
Three Principals provide overall management at W2A, and every project has the individual attention of at least one principal. W2A currently has three licensed architects (registered in the state of Pennsylvania). Our staff has an average of 20 years experience with the firm and 26 years overall professional experience.
At W2A, we are proud of our long history, our extensive client base which includes countless repeat commissions, our numerous national and regional awards for design excellence, our extensive relationships with local contractors and sub-contractors and an outstanding record of project cost control. With over 55 years of service in Allentown, Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley and surrounding Pennsylvania areas, we look forward to continued growth and building relationships with new and existing clients.
Our Commitment to the Environment
W2A is strongly committed to sustainable (“green building”) design. Two of our senior staff architects are LEED® Accredited Professionals. These two architects are available to bring their knowledge of the LEED® process and expertise in managing its challenges to our projects, when relevant. We recently achieved LEED® certification at the Silver level for East Penn School District’s Willow Lane Elementary School (Macungie, PA), a new 85,000 SF school building. We have also designed the new 38,000 SF Parkland Community Library (Upper Macungie Township, PA) as a LEED® Gold project, with several credits already received as part of the Design process submission. As W2A is committed to environmental stewardship in our design, we have previously designed several other projects to LEED® standards, without seeking certification from the USGBC.
