W2A Design Group was commissioned to assist Lehigh Valley Hospital in the relocation of the LVPG Plastic Surgery of the Lehigh Valley from its present offices in a 3,000 sf. suite on the second floor of the 1230 building to the third floor of the 1243 building. After survey and evaluation of existing operations and special requirements, various conceptual space planning and schematic design options situated in two separate locations on the floor were studied. W2A then fully developed the selected solution, which doubled the size of the proposed office space to approximately 6,200 square feet, providing an expansion of facilities and services that would allow the client to expand their reconstructive and cosmetic services.
The reconstructive and cosmetic patients are two distinctly unique groups served by the practice, so separate facilities and circulation flows support the individual needs of the clientele served. In addition to distinct patient waiting areas, a cosmetic services suite was provided. The number of examination and procedure rooms was increased, as was the number of private physicians’ and administrative offices, the size of the reception and check-out and surgical scheduling areas, conference, staff and support spaces.
This tenant fit out project presented excellent functionality with very efficient space utilization, a clearly understood circulation flow, and naturally distinguished access to public and private spaces. The solution maximized access to natural light of the exterior windows for regularly-occupied spaces.
