W2A Design Group assisted the City of Allentown upgrade its City Council Meeting Room, the first major renovation of the space since it was originally constructed in 1964. Professional services included preparation of an up-to-date floor plan of the main level of the room on CAD, development of schematic design options, preparation of documents suitable for construction primarily using City forces.
The project included construction of new larger, accessible custom-fabricated semi-circular dais (to seat 11), extension of the existing platform to accommodate new dais, provision of a new accessible ramp to the platform, replacement of focal wall treatment, new finishes throughout, new ceiling and lighting above dais, and removal of original fixed theatre-style seating and layout and specification of new loose, non-ganging seating for a minimum of 120 and miscellaneous loose furniture. New construction facilitated audio-visual and technology upgrades that were coordinated directly by City personnel.
