The design of the new James A. Michener Regional Library was loosely based on a prototype Bucks County Library layout, but incorporates numerous improvements. W2A studied the original suggestions and developed a much more effective layout. W2A’s layout is organized and accommodates stack spacing and security.A new reception and information desk is located beneath a sky lit cupola and acts as a focal point upon entering the building. Interior spaces include a children’s area with stacks and separate storytelling room, a teen room with lounge seating and work tables, small conference rooms, a large meeting room with seating for 160 and a separate entry, and a Quakertown Room for storage of valuable local historic documents. A spacious general stack area features extensive seating and clerestory windows. The exterior features an inviting brick façade, sloped roof and main entrance canopy.
