W2A has provided full A/E services for multiple projects at The Memorial Health System of Salem County (owned by Community Health Systems), including relocation of the Emergency Department.
The Emergency Department Relocation involved the construction of a 1-story building addition to the north of the Hospital to accommodate the new ED. This 14,220 SF addition provides a prominent entrance with a canopy to serve walk-in emergent and non-ambulatory emergent patients. It includes a waiting area, vending alcove, reception / security desk and public toilets, with 3 registration booths and registration work area, 3 offices and a Triage station.
Treatment / Examination areas include 6 Fast-Track Stations, 2 Nurses’ Stations, 3 Observation Rooms, 5 Exam / Treatment Rooms, and specialized rooms for Ortho / Cast, OB/GYN, X-Ray, Secured Holding, Isolation Treatment, Trauma, and Decontamination.
Support spaces include 2 Med Rooms, 2 Nourishment Stations, utility rooms, an EMT Room, patient and staff toilet rooms upgraded for ADA Accessibility with new finishes, staff lounge, and equipment holding room.
After completion of the major expansion to the Emergency Department (14,220 SF), W2A has provided design services for a 8,400 SF out-patient Wound Center in the former Emergency Department Space.
Another addition at the Salem campus accommodates a 1,900 SF Catheterization Suite. Existing space freed up by the relocation of the ED and the Cath Suite will be converted to other hospital uses.
