Phase I of the St. Joseph the Worker Center of Learning began with a complete Campus master plan and evolved into full A/E design. Phase I of the new K-8 school included twenty classrooms, a science room, an art room, a music room, a computer room, a library, a multi-purpose room and food service facilities. The classroom wing features innovative conference / observation rooms which allow for private instruction or non-disruptive observation of classes. A Gymnasium / Pre-School Center addition was designed as Phase II of the Center of Learning. This phase includes a competition gymnasium with floor-level seating for 600 and related locker and support spaces. Additional overflow is accommodated via a mezzanine area (seating 400). The new building also includes a Pre-School Center with six classrooms, plus a conference room and offices. The building was designed to allow two further phases of construction, both as classroom additions. To facilitate the fundraising process, W2A developed computer renderings of exterior and interior spaces. These renderings helped to communicate the design to the Parish and to build excitement for both phases.
